In a significant move to enhance emergency response capabilities, the Lamu County Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) embarked on an extensive field tour, venturing into challenging and remote border regions. This initiative was a part of broader celebrations honoring the successful integration of refugees and the homecoming of renowned global peacebuilder Shee Kupi Shee.
The tour was graced by the presence of the Chief of Staff, who also serves as the EOC Patron, and was led by the esteemed Shee Kupi Shee during his homecoming visit, marking a pivotal moment in the organization's history.
The primary goal of this mission was to provide EOC officers with firsthand experience of the harsh realities, logistical hurdles, geographical intricacies, and humanitarian needs at the frontier. This immersive experience aims to enable more precise and efficient planning, preparation, and execution of medical evacuations, emergency dispatch, and disaster management operations.
Real-Time Emergency Response Demonstrations:
Madam Diana took the lead in showcasing the Centre's cutting-edge real-time dispatch and response procedures. She guided a dispatch simulation throughout the tour, allowing community members to witness the coordination of rapid deployments, emergency triage, and the functionality of life-saving communication systems in real-world conditions.
The residents were deeply grateful to learn that the same EOC team had been instrumental in numerous Kiunga and cross-border medical evacuations and emergency dispatches, executed swiftly, professionally, and, most importantly, at no cost to the affected communities.
This highlights the EOC's quiet yet life-saving role in one of Kenya's most isolated, complex, and fragile frontiers, fostering trust and cooperation among the local population.

Crossing into Somalia: A Historic Humanitarian Gesture:
The tour culminated in a historic visit to Raskamboni, Somalia, where the EOC team had previously carried out several cross-border medical evacuations through direct intervention.
